Ever since Dylan has been old enough to hunt, this has been a special day. Dylan and Papa spend weeks preparing for opening day by picking out the perfect hunting spot, scouting, and sighting in their scopes. Today, their hard work has paid off with a successful trip for both of them.
"The boys" were all smiles as they trodded out into the wilderness as men have done for generations. Fully camouflaged, they fought the elements and cooly calculated the precise moment when the deer would be prime for the killing.
Dad was first to strike with this coyote who was unlucky enough to find himself in his sights.
Later this afternoon, they went back into the woods and waited for the deer. Dylan spotted a 10 pointer and was unsuccessful with his first attempt but bagged this six pointer instead. Dylan is as happy as if it were the first day of baseball season.
